The Bully In The Mirror
Bullies come in all shapes and sizes. But the saddest one is the one in the mirror.
I have to admit, I have been pretty exasperated as of late. As much as I love being a part of women's groups, it makes my beautiful freckled skin crawl when I hear how many fears, insecurities, and phobias we share. It is a blessed thing to be transparent, to admit our weaknesses, and lean on one another-my chagrin is not towards these lovely creatures, it's toward the enemy of mankind.
Have we become so imbalanced in our understanding of humility that we glorify degenerating ourselves?
Have we forgotten that we are fearfully and wonderfully made? Are we daring to call what God calls wonderful, not good enough? Ridiculous, friends. Just ridiculous already.
And bold. To label what He calls perfect in His sight, as anything less than. To dare to rob our Holy and Magnificent God the glory due Himself by disagreeing that we are valuable beyond measure is a slap to the face of God.
Insecurity is not the same as humility. It may be the worst form of pride there is. To think so little about ourselves in all of our uniqueness and beauty that we can't stop thinking about ourselves. Can we accept that we are amazing? Can we stop being so concerned about our weight, hair color, and abilities that we start honoring God by thinking more about Him and what He would have for our lives? Could we possibly even thank Him and praise Him for our gifts and talents?
Listen, gorgeous sister. God wiped you clean from the inside out and when He uses His holy blood to redeem you, it's no joke. Don't spend your time defiling what He already made gloriously magnificent by playing tapes in your mind of ignorant tyrants from your past-they don't know what they are talking about, or who they are dealing with. Let's go ahead and compare ourselves to others and marvel at God's creativity while still keeping our own confident composure. And daughter of the King, let's never ever let the reflection in the mirror be our own worst enemy. Kick that bully to the curb, and shine like you were meant to.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalms 139:13-14
YOUR TURN! I double dare you to praise the Lord by sharing with me one of your wonderful attributes (we aren't stealing God's glory here, we are agreeing with Him!). How do you overcome your insecurities? What can you do to start believing that you are wonderfully made? If this post blessed you, please SHARE it with others! I love to hear from you!!
Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory. Psalm 115:1
