A BIG Announcement, Life by Design-A Better Kind of Reality Show!

A BIG Announcement, Life by Design-A Better Kind of Reality Show!

A few years ago I sat in my living room flipping the channels and wishing I could find a show that allowed me to see how other families were living their lives with integrity and passion. I was pretty tired of the sensational and dramatic negativity of most reality shows and as a new mom, I longed to know that there were other moms and other women choosing to follow God, a creative path, and handle the unexpected trials of everyday life with joy. Doesn't that sound more worth our time to watch?

But I couldn’t find it.

So my husband and I decided to create it ourselves. Our faith and family-friendly production company, Storehouse Media Group is serious about making entertainment we want to watch-founded through a Biblical world view with the goal of honoring God and inspiring others.

And THAT is how Life by Design was born!

Life by Design

My husband Guy and I fell in love with the Leonard family when we first started hearing about their amazing jewelry and other hand-crafted items that they create in their shop at Lisa Leonard Designs on the serene Central Coast of California in San Luis Obispo. When we got to know them and saw how they parent their son David who was born with Cornelia De Lang Syndrome and their son Mathias who is a budding artist himself, we knew that they were the kind of family we wanted to show the world. Steve just finished his Doctorate in Ministry and handles the business side of LLD while Lisa allows her creativity to flourish in her designs of everything from cake toppers to necklaces. They are both open about their struggles to find normalcy and balance in the unexpected life that God gave them, and they embrace it with joy and purpose. Lisa’s blog is the backbone to their business and thousands of women are checking in with her every day to glimpse a bit of the beauty of their lives and find the beauty in brokenness.

What makes today so exciting is that we can now announce TWO more amazing women and their families to you as part of the Life by Design show!!!

Meet Dee and Tim Kasberger and their four adventurous kids! Tim and Dee run several businesses and embrace the entrepreneurial spirit! Founders of Red Letter Words, Dee is the artist behind beautiful and meaningful artwork inspired from Jesus’ words in the Bible. They make heartfelt pieces that cover everything from custom art prints with the collective names of all the streets where a family has lived, to candles, to fabrics and even greeting cards. A homeschooler of her children ranging from ages 8-16, Dee is amazing at adapting to wherever God takes their family. They divide their year by living in Laguna Beach, CA and recently are relocating to vibrant Austin, Texas. The Kasbergers know how hard it is to step out in faith to pursue a dream as a small business owner and see how God blesses it. Tim also runs a digital printing business, Color Ink. They both handle the pressures of pursuing excellence in the workplace while also being open to whatever God has next for them. Willing to go where God leads, Dee occasionally blogs about their nomadic adventures as they continue to inspire everyone around them and display the truth that home really is where the heart is.

And we can’t wait to also introduce to you Holley and Mark Gerth! As a best-selling author, Holley’s most recent book, “You're Made for a God-Sized Dream” has already impacted many lives, including mine! A life  and e-coach, Holley helps others discover their value in God, their natural skills and talents, and then equips them to pursue their deepest desires. Her husband Mark is as charming and kind as a guy can get. As an architect, he and Holley compliment each other in every way. You should hear him describe the first time they met! Their struggle with infertility has been a way to reach out to other men and women who have endured disappointment and given them a platform to inspire and encourage families of all sizes. Their ability to find the positive even in their trials is remarkable. As a wonderfully talented blogger and the co-founder of (in)courage with Dayspring, Holley brings together women from all walks of life and showcases the talent of writers who want to encourage their readers. You can catch Holley writing award-winning greeting cards or flying all over the country to speak in front of vast crowds but don’t let that fool you. She will tell you that she is an introvert-and that makes her all the more inspiring!

Wouldn’t it be amazing to get a broader look into the lives of these three diverse and fascinating families who are just like you and me-imperfect but faithful, and seeking to make the most of the journey of life? I know that I need to see women and families who are intact, facing obstacles and even sorrows in life, but choosing to trust and believe the best while also drawing meaning from their lives to encourage others.
