Worry Disguised As Prayer
Here’s the truth. I’ve stopped praying about some specific areas of my life. There have been some tremendously high highs over the last few years in our family-but there have been more lows than I care to dwell on.
I don’t know about you, but we are navigating some difficult waters at the moment, and that is exactly why I’m not praying.
That’s right, NOT praying.
For me, when I pray about these particular trials, I’m not releasing them to God, I’m simply worrying about them to Him.
The first step in truly trusting, truly rolling the burden off my shoulders and onto His, is to stop pleading for it to be different. I won’t go so far as to say I have accepted the circumstance, but I sure feel a lot more peaceful about it.
You see, I have prayed. God has heard.
It’s His prerogative to decide what to do next, and my privilege to accept the outcome-whatever that may be.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people. Ephesians 6:18
There is a time for beseeching the Lord repeatedly as we see in Scripture, but sometimes, the best course of action for a fretful spirit is to simply leave it in God’s hands and not revisit it. I’m confident that God will answer in His time and I’m thankful that He understands the groaning of my heart and the silence of my lips.
YOUR TURN!! Is there something that has been pressing on your heart that I can pray for on your behalf? What realizations have you come to in your own prayer life?

Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name give glory. Psalm 115:1
