Satan's Plan For Your Life
Satan has a plan for your life. Yes, you heard that right. We are used to hearing that God has a plan for our lives, but He isn’t the only one.
John 10:10 says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
You may have woken early this morning, before the sun, making breakfast for four little ones under the age of 6. Or perhaps you pulled on your stockings, zipped up your Ann Taylor skirt and headed to your corporate office. Maybe you are a single Dad, driving your kids to school for the first time and trying to figure out how you are going to reframe your mind to raising your kids alone in a new chapter of your life.
No matter who you are or what your current circumstances are, the one thing we all have in common is this: Two beings have opposing plans for your life today.
Satan’s plan is to steal, kill, and destroy your life.
Jesus’ plan is to give you life-life to the full.
The ultimate question for you is simple. Who do you believe?
I can only imagine what the temptations are in your life today. But I will share some of mine. I’m tempted to hold a grudge against a family member. I’m tempted to tell my son to “move on already” in my impatience when he gets fixated on a loss. I’m tempted to take my husband for granted because his love language is acts of service-and he loves so well. I’m tempted to have a pity-party because my friends all went to dinner without inviting me. And I’m tempted to quit blogging because sometimes I wonder if it’s worth it.
If I believe the tempter, I’ll become the walking dead. The temptation is not sin, it’s the yielding to it that kills me. When I succumb, I’m agreeing with my enemy. And whomever I believe will determine my destiny.
Satan loves to play D.J. in my mind, playing records of lies. But I won’t dance with the Devil.
Let’s not get complacent today. Jerry Bridges is right, there are no “Respectable Sins.”For those of us that love God, we are already rescued from the grip of sin and guilt. Colossians 1:13 tells us, “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves.”
Is your life full? Do you feel free? "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." (John 8:36)
If not, determine today what sin in your life is keeping you from freedom. How long has God been telling you to forgive that person? How long has God been asking you to quit smoking? How long has God been warning you about that relationship? How long has God been asking you to release your disappointment with His path for your life?
When will you go where He told you to go? At what point will you submit to your husband as God asks you to do? What has to happen for you to learn that speaking harshly to your wife is destructive? How long do you have to wear the mask of being a perfect Christian before you suffocate beneath it?
Is your sin really working for you?
It’s true. Who you believe will determine your life’s work, your relationships, and your effectiveness as a Christ-follower. Don’t buy into Satan’s deceit.
Jesus came to save you from a lost eternity, but He didn’t stop there. He offers you Living Water to quench the thirst that you keep trying to satiate with sin.
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. I Corinthians 10:13
The way of escape is right before you. Satan has a plan for your life. God has a plan for your life. Whom do you believe?Today is the day to put your money where your mouth is. Perhaps this very moment. I for one want to live life to the full, not just punch my ticket to Heaven. You and I were destined for God’s good plan for our lives. Live like you believe it.
YOUR TURN! God tells us to confess our sins one to another: “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16. Will you be brave, and take that first step here? Without going into inappropriate detail, perhaps this is the place where you can begin to live in freedom. Share with us here, and let's pray for one another!
