The Triggers Study Guide Is Here!!
Not long ago, I pitched a book for parents on the topic of anger to publishers. Over and over again, they rejected the idea for one reason or another. Many of them thought that moms and dads wouldn’t need a book about managing anger.
I was frustrated.
Floored.
And ultimately, determined.
I KNEW that thousands of parents just like me were struggling with the secret shame and frustration of anger and yelling in their homes. I had found freedom and I wanted others to experience the same blessing in their own lives!
The No More Angry MOB Facebook group I ran as a ministry of The MOB Society was alive and well, swelling to thousands and thousands of moms in a matter of months.
The need was great. I knew it. Parents in the trenches knew it. My partner running the Facebook group, Wendy Speake, knew it. But publishers didn’t.
This verse convicted me and challenged me to not give up:
“Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” (James 1:19-20)
The message of growing more like Christ in the hardest everyday moments of parenting could not be done in an angry home—we needed a practical and biblical approach to producing “the righteousness of God” toward our children.
And then, BRU Press, a new division of The MOB Society stepped up to the plate to publish Triggers: Exchanging Parents’ Angry Reactions for Gentle Biblical Responses, on Amazon. My amazing co-author, Wendy Speake, and I couldn’t believe the overwhelming response to the book and the reviews on Amazon. The testimonies of changed lives from moms and dads around the world poured in and we praised God that He would use Triggers, which covers 31 of the most common anger triggers for parents, in such a way!
And NOW, we are humbled and overjoyed to announce that the Triggers Study Guide is available in paperback on Amazon too!
Over the last 6 months, we have heard from many churches, couples, and small group leaders. They have benefited so much from going through Triggers in community together but would love a Study Guide. We felt led to answer the call and prayerfully poured our hearts into this new resource.
Each chapter of the Triggers Study Guide includes a manageable section of short reading with a new thought to ponder, some additional Scripture to consider, and a few thought-provoking questions to dig deeper into the material and spur you on toward real change. For small groups or church Bible Studies, each section of questions was designed to initiate discussion! We polled thousands of parents to create this Study Guide and included a generous section for journaling, illustrating, or additional notes based on their feedback!
We even decided to form a BOOK CLUB!
Wendy and I are chomping at the bit to personally lead moms through the Study Guide over the course of 31 days beginning after Labor Day on September 6th! This private Facebook group is now open, so sign up and join us!
Moms and Dads, if you struggle in any way with frustration, a short temper, or yelling, and you are exasperated by the cycle of guilt that continues each day, grab Triggers and the Triggers Study Guide and join so many thousands of other parents who have found hope and practical ways to respond with gentleness to your triggers. And moms, join our online MOB Society Book Club too! We truly love you dearly and want you to experience the joy of parenting again!
