Is God In The Valley?

Perhaps, today, you find yourself breathing deeply of mountain-top air, enjoying the glorious rest of a chapter of peace in your life. But more than likely, you find yourself heaving in a dry valley for shallow breaths, doggedly pursuing through your struggles. I want you to know today, that God is the God of the hills and God is the God of the valleys.

In 1 Kings, chapter 20, we read about the Arameans who were defeated by the Israelites as they fought them in the hills. The idol-worshipping Arameans and their king, Bed-Hadad, rationalized that their defeat was because of the hills, but that surely, they would gain victory over the Israelites if they engaged them on the plains. But God is not only God of the hills. I Kings 20:28-30 reads:

The man of God came up and told the king of Israel, "This is what the LORD says: 'Because the Arameans think the LORD is a god of the hills and not a god of the valleys, I will deliver this vast army into your hands, and you will know that I am the LORD.' "For seven days they camped opposite each other, and on the seventh day the battle was joined. The Israelites inflicted a hundred thousand casualties on the Aramean foot soldiers in one day.The rest of them escaped to the city of Aphek, where the wall collapsed on twenty-seven thousand of them. And Ben-Hadad fled to the city and hid in an inner room.

Friend, whether you are going through life seamlessly, or facing troublesome times, God is in control, and He fights for the good of His people. Do not be like the Arameans who did not give God the credit He deserved as Lord over all the earth and over all circumstances. He has not left you on the hill-top, nor has He left you in the valley.

And furthermore, when you are outnumbered, facing a battle in which your “enemy” has the upper-hand and the numbers to win, do not underestimate the ways of God to win the victory. Be willing to go forward with your frailty, knowing that God is for you! If your desire is that God would be glorified as the God of the mountain-top and God of the valley, then trust Him to do the work on your behalf. Ask Him this very moment to fight your battle for you, to reveal Himself to you and to those around you who may be watching your struggle. Expect Him to overcome whatever conflicts come your way, wherever they arise, and be faithful to Him as He is faithful ever and always towards His people.

YOUR TURN!! Please, let us know in this community, how can we pray for you on your hill-top, or in your valley? I love to hear from you!!
